This trip to Puglia was in my top two favorites. A little of the beaten path with unique history and so much beauty. Matera, the cave city, is a must see. We stayed in a spectacular cave spa hotel in Matera. In Lecce, we stayed in the former palace of Giovanni Paisiello, now a boutique hotel which accommodated our small group. Spend eight days discovering the beauty and traditions of Puglia and Basilicata, beginning at a four-star masseria and vineyard near Baroque Lecce. From our base in Ostuni, we’ll explore the whitewashed towns, family farms, vineyards, and coastline of the Valle d’Itria, including a private boat tour with time to swim and sip prosecco. Our journey concludes in Matera, where ancient cave dwellings and winding stone streets provide an unforgettable setting for our final days together.
